I enjoyed this piece a lot.
It's something I run up against quite a bit in conversation. A feeling that not only do people's actions not matter, but that, because of this and probably some other variables, they're powerless to do anything, to change anything, etc.
I can't empathise with it unconditionally though. After a certain point, I have to wonder if people are using this kind of thinking as justification not to try.
